What is the best diet plan? This question has different answers for different people. What works for one person may not work for you. Most diets will cause you to lose weight at some point. But finding the most effective one can be hard. The best advice is to find a diet that doesn't seem as though you are even on a diet. Just a natural extension of who you are and how you eat.

You may wonder, "What is the best diet plan?" Well the best diet plan is the one that feels as though you aren't even on a diet that way you will actually stick to it long term.

Low Fat Diet Plans

These diets have been around since the beginning of dieting and usually consist of cutting out fatty foods and sticking to "low fat" foods you see everywhere today. Although it sounds like a foolproof plan it just isn't.

A great example of this is if you were to eat a pound of sugar every meal you would most definitely get fatter, yet sugar has no fat calories. You would basically be eating a fat free diet but you will still gain weight.

What is more important when constructing your diet is the TYPES of foods that are combined together at each meal.

Low Calorie Diets

The really low calorie fad diets are also not the most effective plan for losing weight effectively. This is one of the least effective ways diet especially because it cancels out your bodys natural ability to burn fat. Although it can be used to lose weight quickly for an important upcoming event it is usually gained back when stopped. Although they can be great for quick short term weight loss it is often gained back quickly when stopped. You will also notice a quick amount of weight loss the first few days followed by a quick halt in any loss which is known as a plateau.

Long term weight loss is easier achieved by eating specific types of carbs and fats and specific times. This will utilize the body's natural fat burning abilities.

Low Carb Diets

Made popular by the Atkins Diet the problem with low carb menus is that they are often too strict in their carb intake which makes it very hard for the average person to follow for any length of time.

To sustain long term weight loss your body needs the correct proportion of fat and carbs to be most effective in losing and keeping weight off long term.
